Breakfast Team at Legacy Overland Park

Indoor Families
Help kick off Serve KC by preparing, serving, and cleaning up breakfast for volunteers before they head out to serve. Your hospitality will help create a welcoming environment and encourage volunteers as they begin their day of serving.

Requirements

ages 10+; standing for extended periods, light lifting, food preparation, serving, and cleanup

Gratitude and Encouragement Cards to First Responders, Teachers, and Nurses

Indoor Families
Write notes of gratitude and encouragement for area police stations, fire stations, schools, and hospitals. Some will be asked to deliver the cards to various locations and pray with the people present.

Park & Trail Cleanup - Antioch Park

Outdoor Families
Help care for Antioch Park through cleanup and beautification projects. Volunteers may assist with trash pickup, clearing debris, light landscaping, and other projects that help keep these public spaces clean and welcoming for visitors.

Cleaning and Special Projects - Growing Futures

Indoor Outdoor Families
Help support the mission of Growing Futures by assisting with cleaning and special projects that create a safe, welcoming environment for children and families receiving early education and family support services.

Requirements

Must be 14 years or older; must complete a waiver; each participant needs an individual email address

International Students Desk and Chair Assembly

Indoor Families
Help welcome international students arriving in Kansas City by assembling desks and desk chairs for their homes. Volunteers will also write notes of encouragement and pray over the furniture before it is distributed, helping create a warm and welcoming start as students settle into a new community.

Requirements

Standing for extended periods, assembling furniture using basic hand tools, bending, lifting moderate-weight items, and carrying furniture components. Volunteers should be comfortable following assembly instructions and working as part of a team.

Yard Work & Clean Up - Rosehill Elementary School

Outdoor Families
Serve Rosehill Elementary by helping with outdoor cleanup and yard work. Volunteers may assist with landscaping, weeding, mulching, trash pickup, and general beautification projects around the campus.

walking, bending, kneeling, light to moderate lifting, and working outdoors

Interior Painting

Indoor Adults
Support the ministry of House of Hope by helping paint an interior room. Volunteers will assist with painting, touch-up work, and cleanup to help create a welcoming and well-maintained space for those served by the organization.

Requirements

Standing for extended periods, reaching, bending, climbing a step stool or short ladder, and performing light to moderate painting tasks. Volunteers should be comfortable using paint brushes and rollers and assisting with setup and cleanup.

Assist with a Worship Service

Indoor Families
Spend time encouraging residents of a local retirement community through worship, prayer, and meaningful conversation. Volunteers will help lead a worship service and build connections with residents.

Requirements

Volunteers should enjoy interacting with older adults, be comfortable engaging in conversation, and be willing to participate in worship, prayer, and encouragement with residents.

Exterior Demo Project

Outdoor Adults
Support the ministry of House of Hope by helping remove an aging deck. Volunteers will assist with demolition, debris removal, and site cleanup to help prepare the property for future use.

Requirements

Lifting and carrying moderate to heavy materials, bending, reaching, using hand tools, and working outdoors for extended periods. Volunteers should be comfortable performing physically demanding work and walking on uneven surfaces.

Yard Work & Clean Up - Indian Woods Middle School

Outdoor Families
Serve Indian Woods Middle School by helping with outdoor cleanup and yard work. Volunteers may assist with landscaping, weeding, mulching, trash pickup, and general beautification projects around the campus.

Encouragement Visit + Cookie Delivery

Indoor Families
Write notes of encouragement, deliver cookies, and visit a Legacy member who is unable to attend church in person. Spend time caring for them, offering encouragement, and praying together.

Requirements

Light food preparation, writing cards, walking, and carrying small items. Volunteers should be comfortable delivering cookies and cards to community locations.

Help care for the Indian Creek Trails through cleanup and beautification projects. Volunteers may assist with trash pickup, clearing debris, light landscaping, and other projects that help keep these public spaces clean and welcoming for visitors.

Landscaping at Neighborhood Entrance

Outdoor Families
Help beautify the Brookridge Estates neighborhood by landscaping an island near the community entrance. Volunteers will assist with planting, mulching, weeding, and general cleanup to create a welcoming entrance for residents and visitors.

Requirements

Walking, bending, kneeling, lifting bags of mulch or plants, and working outdoors for extended periods.

Foster Care Bag Assembly

Indoor Families
Help provide comfort and practical support by packing backpacks with clothing and essential items for children entering foster care.

Requirements

Children ages 10+; standing for periods of time, sorting and organizing items, packing backpacks, and carrying light materials.
